The Angel’s Share

A textile work inspired by the lives of six women connected by a village and a mill – now a distillery.

Using vintage threads and materials, a tablecloth has been repurposed into something new and meaningful. Reviving the lives of a group of women; friends and relatives who are no longer here through memories, text and stitch.

The mill is now a distillery using the same water source. The eponymous angel’s share is the evaporation of whisky in the barrels, leaving behind a richer, stronger and better substance. The allegory seems a natural one to me as the women have left behind a legacy of knowledge, skills and memories
